Causes of circuit breaker tripping in liquid-ring vacuum pumps

With the rapid development of urban construction in China, water-ring vacuum pumps are being used more and more widely. To ensure their optimal application, let us now examine the causes of circuit breaker tripping in water-ring vacuum pumps.

Circuit breaker tripping is a common occurrence during the operation of water-ring vacuum pumps, which can prevent enterprises from carrying out normal production. The suction inlet of a water-ring vacuum pump should not be connected to the bottom of the tank; it is sufficient to retain a single suction pipe at the top of the tank. If air is drawn from the bottom of the tank, the pump must be stopped after each use. This is because a negative pressure builds up inside the tank; as the suction pipe and the water-ring vacuum pump are connected, the negative pressure will draw water from the pump into the tank. When the vacuum pump is restarted, a large volume of water from the bottom is drawn into the pump, causing it to become overloaded and triggering a circuit breaker trip due to excessive current.

When two water-ring vacuum pumps are connected via a single pipe without a valve between them—with only a non-return valve fitted at the inlet—the non-return valve cannot provide a complete seal. As our standard operating procedure involves running one pump whilst keeping the other on standby, when one pump is in operation, it may draw water from the other water-ring vacuum pump, or even cause the exhaust pipe to draw circulating water and atmospheric air back into the system. This is the reason for the circuit breaker tripping.

The above outlines the causes of circuit breaker tripping in water-ring vacuum pumps. As their characteristics and advantages lead to increasingly widespread application, it is essential to select appropriate operating methods based on actual conditions during operation in order to achieve optimal results.
